-1651- Ferdinand Maria, prince-elector of Bavaria, takes the throne
-1679- Maximilian II Emanuel, son of Ferdinand, takes the throne
-1683- Maximilian embarked on a military career starting in defense of Vienna against the advancing Ottomans
-1685- Maximilian marries Maria Antonia, her father being a Holy Roman Emperor, and mother being of Spanish royalty. The marriage was very successful for Bavaria and Spain.
-1726- Charles Albert, son of Maximilian, takes the throne
-1741- Charles creates the Treaty of Nymphenburg, allying Spain and France with Bavaria against Austria in the War of Austrian Succession
-1742- Charles becomes Holy Roman Emperor
-1745- Maximilian III Joseph, son of Charles, takes the throne


Conditions of a Peace Treaty Following the Defeat of Vienna in 1742
"A peace shall be reestablished between the House of Bavaria and the Court of Vienna, upon the following conditions, vix.
  1. The [Holy Roman] Emperor will acknowledge the great Duchess of Tuscany to be the Queen of Hungary and Bohemia & (a) will give up the Rights in her favor, (b) in the form which shall be found agreeable to both, on the condition that,
  2. She cede to the Emperor and his house forever, to be incorporated with the Kingdom of Bavaria, on the side of Bohemia..."
